GDPR & PrivacyStatement.

How Live Local. Trust Local. collects, uses and protects your personal information under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

Live Local. Trust Local. is operated by Genuine Futures CIC, a community interest company registered in England and Wales. We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website.

Our registered office is at Genuine Futures Youth Enterprise Hub, Metro Business Park, 228 Waterloo St, Bolton BL1 8HU.

What information we collect

Account information: name, email address, password (hashed), role (business member, community organisation, school, youth contributor, staff).

Listing and profile content: business or organisation details, descriptions, images, contact information, accessibility and eligibility details.

Enquiries and reviews: messages you send to businesses or our team, reviews you submit, and moderation records.

Payment information: membership and order details processed through GoCardless; we do not store card or bank details on our servers.

Technical information: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and cookies or local storage used to keep you signed in and improve security.

How we use your information

To operate the directory: publish approved listings, respond to enquiries, manage memberships, and prevent abuse.

To communicate with you: send service messages, review outcomes, password resets, and — only with consent — marketing or community updates.

To meet legal and safeguarding obligations: keep audit records, protect young people, and comply with financial and regulatory requirements.

To improve the platform: analyse how the site is used and develop features that better serve Bolton's community.

How we protect your information

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures: encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure password hashing, role-based access, and staff training.

We do not sell personal information or share it with third parties for their own marketing. Service providers (hosting, email, payment) process data only under contract and as needed to run the platform.

We keep personal information only while needed for the purposes above, or as required by law, safeguarding, financial or audit records.

Your rights

You can ask us to: access your personal information; correct or update it; delete it (subject to records we must keep); restrict or object to processing; and receive a copy in a portable format.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the Contact page and mark your message 'Data protection'. We will respond within one month.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you are unhappy with how we handle your data.

Cookies and tracking

We use essential cookies and local storage to keep your sign-in session working and remember secure application state.

We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. If privacy-respecting analytics are added, this policy will be updated before they are enabled.

You can clear browser storage at any time, which will sign you out of the website.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date.

Continued use of the website after changes means you accept the updated policy.

Effective date: 5 December 2026

This statement is written to match how the website actually works. Formal legal review is still recommended before public launch, and material changes will be reflected here.
